ALL ABOUT THAT GLOW: MY FAVOURITE HIGHLIGHTERS

May 02, 2018

This post is going to be all about my favourite makeup item. Highlighters. If there's something I love it's getting that glow so I thought I would share my go to highlighters. Some of these are old favourites and some I have discovered recently. I'm going to go through them and and show you them swatched side by side.

(L-R: Mary Lou Manizer, Jeffree Star Skin Frost in Peach Goddess, LA Girl Strobe Lite in 120 Watt, BECCA Champagne Pop, MUA Undress Your Skin in Pink Shimmer.)

The Balm Mary Lou Manizer - £16

This is my favourite highlight of all time and no matter what I use I always end up going back to this one. As you can see I've used a lot of it but it has lasted me for ages. This is most gorgeous champagne coloured highlight and looks amazing on a range of skin tones. I can wear this when I'm pale or have tan on and it looks really good. I know most people will probably have already tried this as it is a really popular highlighter among the beauty community.

Jeffree Star Skin Frost (Peach Goddess) - £25

This is by far the best formula of highlight I have used, it is so buttery and goes onto the skin beautifully. This highlight is very pigmented and you only need to use a little bit to get an amazing glow. I have the shade peach goddess which gives a gorgeous baby pink glow. However it does come out quite strong so a little goes a long way with this. As you can see from the swatch above this highlighter is insanely pigmented and the pan is huge so you are getting a lot of product for your money in my opinion. I've had this for just over a year and it is still going strong.

LA Girl Strobe Lite (120 Watt) - £5

This highlighter is great for only £5, I've mentioned LA Girl products in posts before because I think they are great quality for the price. This highlight is one of my favourite purchases from them and comes in a huge range of colours. This is the lightest/most white shade they do in the range. I would use this mostly to highlight the inner corners of the eyes as it can come off too light as a highlight on the face. However I would love to try out some of the other colours to highlight my cheekbones. I'm not going to say the formula of this is as great as the Jeffree Star for example, as it is a little more chalky than the higher end brands I've tried, but the pigmentation is still amazing. I get all my LA Girl products from BTY in Belfast.

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfecter (Champagne Pop) - £32

Probably everyone in the beauty world has already heard of this highlighter and it was popular a few years back but is still a firm favourite of mine. It's Becca's collab with Jaclyn Hill. If you watch Youtube makeup tutorials you've probably heard of Jaclyn and her different collabs with Becca and Morphe. This highlighter was one of the first products she brought out and I picked it up straight away. This highlighter is the most beautiful champagne colour which isn't too gold and isn't too silver. The formula is great, really smooth similarly to the Jeffree Star one.

MUA Undress Your Skin (Pink Shimmer) - £3

For £3 this highlighter is the ultimate bargain, if you are just getting started in makeup or want a decent highlighter but don't want to pay a lot I would recommend this. I got the pink version of this to try out a pink highlight before I purchased the Jeffree Star one. With this one the pigmentation isn't as intense as the others and you do have to dig in a bit to get a good pay off but for £3 what would you expect. If you haven't tried MUA before this id worth trying. I picked mine up in Superdrug.

Thank you for reading
