So this is my first post I will be doing about back to uni and I wanted to share some items that would be good to create a capsule wardrobe with and that can be worn and styled in different ways. If you are student like me you are probably on a tight budget and don’t have the money to buy a new outfit every week. So I’m going to share some statement pieces which will go with a lot of things, some of them might seem obvious. And a few other items that can add a little something to an outfit and help you stay on trend.

A black leather shopper would be my bag of choice for uni, as it is big enough to fit books and laptop etc but also will keep you looking stylish. By going for a simple leather shopper it can look expensive and effortlessly chic. It will also go with almost anything and it’s a definite A/W essential for me.

In my opinion mom Jeans are the best jeans, not only are they super comfortable but they also look super stylish and relaxed. Mom Jeans can also work for daytime or can be dressed up for going out. I would usually pair them with a casual graphic tee for daytime. And a shirt and boots for night time or going out. Adding a statement belt to Mom Jeans can    also change them up. I would personally go for a leopard print belt or a gold detailed belt.

Although it can be pricey a good camel coat can last you many seasons. And will compliment any outfits. You could literally wear black jeans and a t shirt with a camel coat over the top and it would still look like an expensive outfit. A coat is a really good investment and can be a statement for winter.

White shirts and printed ones like the one above are super simple to style and you can usually pick them up relatively cheap. This one could be worn tucked into a skirt with tights. With jeans and a coat or even leggings and a denim jacket. I honestly love this shirt and have purchased it myself.

Graphic tees are perfect for adding to your wardrobe and are great for days when you just can’t think of what to wear and want to dress casual. My favourite places to get them are Pull and Bear, Topshop and Zara. I love the Han Clothing tees from Topshop and it’s great to support a local brand. It’s great to build up a collection of graphic tees that you can wear in different seasons.

Black culottes are an absolute wardrobe staple you can wear them casually or dressed up. I wear my black plisse culottes with basically everything. Graphic tees and jumpers and a pair of trainers and you are good to go. They are so much more comfier than jeans and I love them on a day where I can’t be bothered cause they basically feel like you are wearing pyjamas.

Boots are my everything for uni especially in Autumn winter, I wear trainers a lot but if I want to a look a bit more put together a pair of boots can definitely dress up and outfit. I love the look of a dress or skirt with black tights and boots. However make sure they are comfy if you are gonna be wearing them everyday.

Checked skirts are definitely going to be my go to this A/W. Clueless vibes are 100% back and a checked skirt will give you an amazing 90s vibe. Primark have a gorgeous yellow skirt now which is nearly the exact same as the one Cher wore in Clueless. You can basically find these anywhere, New Look have a great selection at the minute and they will instantly make you look super preppy for uni. These will be a huge trend this season so get ahead of the curve and grab one while you can.

Pinafores are one of my favourite things to wear to uni and Primark have a huge selection of button down ones at the minute. A plain one can be good as it can work with many different outfits or a patterned one can work as a signature piece in your wardrobe which you can style up with different jumpers and tops. These are great transitional pieces as you can wear them over t shirts coming into autumn and then transition to jumpers for the colder months. They look really smart without having to make a huge effort.

Shirt Dresses are very in at the moment and a striped shirt dress is extremely complimentary. This style of dress can suit anyone and is super easy to style. I would probably just wear boots and a bag with a few pieces of jewellery layered on. This dress is currently on my wish list on ASOS.

Turtlenecks were the most worn item in my wardrobe last year, layering is key for uni and these are great for under pinafores with jeans/skirts or anything really. Neutral colours are great for the versatility but you can also easily add a pop of colour to your outfit with an inexpensive turtleneck.

If you want to go for a more chilled casual look a puffa coat is a great statement piece. I love this light grey one and it would look great with an all black outfit. Especially here in Northern Ireland were the weather can be colder it’s great to have a warm puffa coat.

I love jumpsuits seeing as they are an all in one outfit for winter I layer them with turtlenecks or t-shirts and a black belt. For a really smart and chic look. I absolutely love this grey check one or a stripe one could be gorgeous.

Chunky warm knits are an absolute essential for winter on cold days. They are great to chuck on with a pair of jeans or trousers and to tuck in at the front or wear with a scarf. Also super comfortable for sitting through lectures.

This is a uni essential, in the morning when I’m tired I love to wrap myself up in a big scarf as it’s the next best thing to my bed. A scarf can also look super stylish added to any outfit.

Thank you for reading
